Who We Are
We are a married couple in our twenties, Liam is originally from Cornwall in England & Rachel comes from the opposite end of the UK in Aberdeen, Scotland.
We are basing our lives on the belief that we can actually change the world! We want to live as a witness to hope, that we believe became a man in Jesus Christ. Everything we do as we work in amongst the poor in South Africa is rooted in this, a belief that God loves everyone with a love that is stronger than the death that we are so often surrounded by.
“Sometimes it falls upon a generation to be great. You can be that generation.” Nelson Mandela
We are guided by 3 things, that God loves us, and a right response is to receive that love and love him back; He loves the people we are surrounded by; and that because he loves the world, the God of the bible does not stand far off from the reality of injustice, pain and suffering in our world, in fact he is there is the midst of it, and promises to be with us as we join him in this, til the day he comes to make an end to it.
Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a huge crowd of witnesses to the life of faith, let us strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily trips us up. And let us run with endurance the race God has set before us. Hebrews 12:1
In the past these ministries have often been at opposition, one engaging in ‘hit and run’ evangelism and the other standing for social justice whilst forgetting to mention Jesus at all. We think that Africa especially, but the World at large needs Christians who are wholly committed to sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ whilst also being committed to share the gospel of action displaying God’s heart of compassion & justice for the poor & broken.
Our Vision is to see not only salvation decisions, but the goodness of God displayed in every area of society in South Africa, as lives are discipled, we believe communities will be transformed & nations can be changed.
We long to see the people of South Africa set free from the poverty that surrounds their lives. This poverty takes many forms:
Spiritual poverty: the sense that they don’t matter to God or have anywhere to take their burdens.
Financial poverty: helping people realise they can really step out of crippling poverty & that it is something that is on God’s heart for them.
Relational poverty: networking them with people who care about them & want to engage in Jesus centered community with them.
“I saw a large crowd that no one could count, from every nation, tribe, people and language standing before the Throne of God” – John the Apostle
We are planning to move to South Africa in August 2010 as long term missionaries working in the areas of simple church planting, baby rescue, business discipleship training and working to combat human trafficking. We are currently in the process of making connections with people who want to be part of this by supporting us financially, click for more info.
